Think of it this way: I privately invest money in printing and sending
stickers (with risk to myself, too). I will inevitably have extra

there's profit, I say it "belongs to the marketing team". I realise
now that it's not entirely correct to say so, because the team cannot
have property. From now on I will use "will be used for the benefit of
the marketing team and spreadubuntu".

As I understand, anyone is "free" to sell the stickers, Ubuntu CD's,
or other material they create and/or get for free. What one does with
the profit (or loss) is also upto the individual. No issues.
However, this is compounded when one uses the "Marketing team of
Ubuntu" name so to speak. How will the lay person know the difference
between a private venture and the MT which involves volunteers
spanning geographical locations. That is where the question of
*ethics* arise.

Also if I understand correctly the MT does not have expenses per se,
since hosting, domains, server and other facilities like mailing list,
IRC and Forums are provided by Ubuntu/Canonical. Am I wrong here?

What I intend are small bounties, possible investment in next batch,
other material etc.. Bounties are a great way of motivating people.

Maybe, maybe not !
Currently the Marketing team has motivated people as is and right now
we need to focus on 1-2 ideas, plan, implement and deliver them rather
than trying to juggle too many tasks at one time.

One bounty was given out in the MT, by Lloyd Hardy - for the best
marketing idea (I don't remember what it was). The recipient decided
he would donate the bounty to a charity :). But taht's not a necessary
thing, of course.

That was a nice thing to do.

The whole initiative's purpose is NOT generating revenue, but it might
be a side effect.

I understand your generosity and appreciate it. So it would be less
confusing if one said "I am donating X amount to this Marketing (or
another) team". Currently it seems like the MT team is endorsing a
private venture, which is not completely true.

I hope you understand what I am trying to say here.
