Do you think it is really necessary for the marketing team to have
financial resources? I have to say that I don't at the moment.

I tend to agree. If I understand correctly, revenue generation is not
one of the goals for the Marketing team or is it ? Maybe I am missing
the picture or too many ideas are popping up resulting in confusion
for readers like me.

I am aware of the SU project and respect all efforts being put therein
but some earlier posts did raise important points IMHO :

In my experience the word "Marketing" is usually used with respect to
sales and generating revenue for a company. so (I am confused) about
the part where the MT activities and deliverables really fit in here
(...and yes I am aware of the distinction between Canonical and Ubuntu
which is self-evident in the distinctive email address of an employee
vis-a-vis a community member :-)).

Maybe its time to answer some tough questions about our product
(currently Ubuntu and SU), strategy and goals. For example:

* Where do we want to go with the Ubuntu/Spread Ubuntu product ?
* Who is our target ? - home users, corporates, schools,
colleges/universities, small business ? Why do we think we'll be
successful ?
* Why advantages does using SU grant to the user and how does it
benefit them in the short-, mid- and long term. How will we get there?
* How do we avoid duplicating efforts already existing in the
community. How can we synergise our work with other community work.

</me thinking out loud>
