You have very nice boot times. Are you on a solid state drive? Are you
counting the entire time till the desktop is usable?
I just went to see RMS speak at Lycoming college. He said they are
currently recommending ati over nvidia. It's nice to see improvements in
FOSS ati drivers, but I need 3D for gaming.
I'll have to try out wicd. One thing I love about ubuntu is that there
is so much software included with it. If it isn't included, or it is out
of date, you can typically find a newer version on getdeb or a repo.
OO.o definitely works better with MS office. I opened a .doc file in OOo
2.x in intrepid and it didn't look right. I opened it in iLife/iWork 07
at school and it didn't look right. I opened it in OO.o 3.0, and it
looked perfect.

Quicksilver-like layout :). I'm also happy with OpenOffice.org 3, which
seems to be more compatible with Microsoft Office. I made a presentation
a week or two ago that actually looked the same in Impress and
PowerPoint; first time that's ever happened!
I've done a few Intrepid to Jaunty upgrades and they've all gone fine,
but others have had problems, so backing up your data before upgrading
is a smart idea.
Jorge: I generally find that sleeping in until ungodly times in the
early afternoon fixes that ;)
Maia: I'd like to make this group more active. The leaders of similar
Ubuntu groups (Ubuntu Women comes to mind) might be able to offer advice
on how to increase participation while avoiding attacks from problematic
types (which unfortunately includes many on IRC, for example). I
recognize that some members are (very understandably) concerned with
discretion for personal or professional reasons, though, which adds
nuance to this issue :(

I personally at the moment, do not want to draw too much
attention to my presence in this group. However, that will
change in the future and people who are completely out would
likely want their membership known.
So anyway, how about that Jaunty? So far I've been very happy
as it has seemed stable. I like the rw filesystem option on
USB keys. You can permanently install programs that way too. I
love the speed of ext4. On my Eee 901's slow 16GB internal
SSD, jaunty with ext4 runs much faster than intrepid with
ext3. The new notification system is nice, although I thought
the old one was fine. Fast boots are very much appreciated.
How are other poeple's experiences with Jaunty?
