I know that (linux) open source developers are not motivated by money. Then I wonder why do they even try for fundraising (https://www.phoronix.com/news/GNOME-Foundation-Funding-Need)? One day GNOME will also close. freedesktop.org and Alpine linux are already on the hook (https://linux.slashdot.org/story/25/02/04/0044210/popular-linux-orgs-freedesktop-alpine-linux-are-scrambling-for-new-web-hosting). If money is not the concern then why are they even asking for money?
