I don't think that is true in general (even if it is probably true for some developers). E.g. a company like Collabora (which pays a number of LibreOffice developers) sells services to companies that use linux desktops; if they didn’t listen to their customers they would not be very happy. > I think that Google uses linux desktops a lot. LibreOffice is a competitor for several Linux Foundation members that offer commercial office software solutions (at least 3 at first glance, probably more), including Google & Microsoft. Why would they pay/help to improve a free competitor? > I can change the whole scenario and make linux desktops popular and > defeat Microsoft but I can't do it because I am not an important > person in the linux world. Microsoft is a platinum member of the Linux Foundation (meaning they pay a larger membership fee than Google). "Defeat Microsoft" is not a project/goal they will accept... -- Jan Claeys (please don't CC me when replying to the list) -- Ubuntu-devel-discuss mailing list Ubuntu-devel-discuss@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-devel-discuss
