We can either contribute (jointly) to trying to make the tone of the discussion better so that there is a better chance of us actually hearing each other or we can continue flogging each other in a manner that is both non-productive and unpleasant.
Please just trust that part of me really wants to be sending a very strongly negative message right now, but I'm trying to step past that and promote a more positive interaction. If you want to keep up with the negativity, I suppose we can do that too. Those mails are a lot more fun for me to write. I don't think they benefit the project. And yes, I do think that gently pointing out where it appears to me that someone is discouraging dialogue is a contructive response to such situations.
