Hello Reinhard,..

Well, I can completely confirm now!
Even though the current version in the launchpad repo is even newer than
yours... ;-)

On the input side the AC3 stream is detected correctly (when using
-target dvd), but as you stated before, the error message has changed
due to a missing encoder for generating the output.

Do you know why the mpeg2 encoder has been removed? I personally think that it
has been done by accident, because MPEG2 is not that dangerous as it seems.
If it was removed due to license issues, I think, in this case, for example, it
is quite easy, because when you buy a JVC-camcorder - and JVC committs to
MPEG2-recording - the user has the required license to use MPEG2 codecs in any
way.
On the cover box they clearly talk about MPEG2, without any constraints... so,
from my point of view, it is allowed to use it.
I can see no license violation in this use case.... and the warnings when
installing such packages are good enough.

But this was a little bit off-topic...

As I don't know about those packages of launchpad:
I think they are a somewhat nightly collection, aren't they? So, is there a
chance, that those packages and a fix for this issue will get its way into a
hardy update?
I just ask this as a last question - just to bring this to an end.

Bye,
Sven
