The reason why its LOW is because being able to burn optical media or read DVDs, or restore your backups from a DVD in Ubuntu is NOT a priority. This is why this problem has existed for several months now and is still set to low. If you want to burn CDs and DVDs and restore your Backup from Data DVDs them maybe Ubuntu is not for you. Get a Mac or maybe even Windows Vista Basic. Maybe you may have better luck with a floppy drive if you must use removable media and Ubuntu Hardy on the same computer.
