The "ht=on" is a remainder from a Hyperthreading cpu--I need to edit that out. Yes, I'm using Ubuntu--the grub-gfxboot came from Debian & it modified the update-grub in /user--I still need to change that, but I hand change my menu.lst to Hardy/Ibex, etc anyway ;) I'll test without quiet & splash next--about 4/5hrs from now.
