I'm confused.  If I search Nvidia's site using Google, I can find driver
173.08, but if I use their driver selector
(http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us) or click on the
list of linux drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html), the
latest driver available is 169.12.  Does that mean that 169.12 is the
latest stable driver?  Should I not be installing 173.08?

Also, if I install the 173.08 driver manually, will it break the next
time I upgrade my Ubuntu distribution?
