@ Jan Mynarik Thanks for the hint about depmod -a. I just installed the 3rd attempt at 2.6.24-12 and the Nvidia card was not recognized, again. Got root, did depmod -a, rebooted, and all is well for now. What a roller-coaster this release has been!
