I do see plenty of work here on the issue, but I was under the
impression that there was little work going into Canonical releasing
8.04 "pre-fixed" and that for a while it was dismissed as being due to
the settings in the Bios or something.

Once again, I apologize for sounding that way. It's been a long day...
