beads: if you have official support from dell then demand they would find a solution. dell have Linux engineer who are suppose to certify Ubuntu on the hardware it runs. there is also a mailing list for dell Linux.
someone here mentioned early that he had Linux support from dell and they replaced hes hard drive. tell us how it went.
