@Aaron: the difference is 470 is a legacy driver and the last to support Kepler. Transitioning 470 to 535 was illogical. Transitioning 535 to 580 makes sense, at least on paper, since they support the same hardware. I have seen a couple complaints about 580 (hence why I repacked last working 535 version). Are the problems widespread enough to revive 535, or just corner cases? I don't know. But I really wish that conversation would happen in a separate bug, because those are bugs with 580, and not "580 does not support those GPU's at all". That's a significantly different case, to me.
Also, it's been a difficult time just trying to get 470 restored (and the 470-server status clarified).
