This is a chart of what different file managers creators and others display is on the USB boot-install disk for 24.04.1. After creating it, two possible causes of the "No room on the disk" state came to mind. The first caused by the second.
First possible cause, The mounting of the USB boot-install disk as two separate drives on two separate mount points? * On one mount the OS and installer only about 5 GiB in size. * On the other mount another part of the same drive essentially empty titled "Writable" 51.7 GiB in size and containing log files. If the installer requires more than 5 GiB and only has access to the first mount could this produce the failure? Second possible cause, The USB boot-install disk was created with the first primary partition of sized 4.9 to 5.2 Gib, and of the six partitions the fifth and largest is bracketed by two UN-allocated partitions. Could this be why the mounting software [firmware?] sees it as a separate drive making it unavailable to the installer in the first partition? I refer you now to my attachment where to the best of my sometimes confused abilities I have laid out in detail the partitions on the USB boot drive and what is shown when the same drive is viewed using the apps: Disks, Startup Disk Creator, GParted, Files and Dolphin. I was surprised to find each displayed different information and size for the same partitions. At the bottom of the chart are three questions in more detail I have about the possible causes. Please read the chart. I hope it and the questions will prove helpful. I look forward to your response[s] ** Attachment added: "Chart of Boot-Loader contents displayed by different creator, organizer and file managers" https://bugs.launchpad.net/subiquity/+bug/2097491/+attachment/5856421/+files/24.04%20Boot-Loader%20Install%20USB%20Partitions%20seen%20by%20File%20Apps.pdf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2097491 Title: 24.04 new uploader files not present where downloader is looking - no space left on device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/subiquity/+bug/2097491/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
