enable() and disable() are implemented at the extension's discretion. So a buggy extension may be running code still (or already crashed) even when told to disable itself. That's why we need to delete extensions as much as possible here. That's not as easy with the Ubuntu extensions because they are system requirements and removing them risks auto- uninstalling the entire desktop. > You also said something about wallpapers. I mentioned wallpapers because those potentially need "slicing" in Xorg due to Xorg not having separate textures per monitor. It has one texture covering all desktops which risks exceeding the maximum texture size for the GPU. But that problem only exists in Xorg, not Wayland. > At any rate I'll do my best to follow your instructions when I'm able but I > rely on many of these extensions > throughout the day so it's going to be a bit tedious to use my computer > without the dock, desktop, etc. Just disabling d...@rastersoft.com should be enough as a first step. Please also run this in a Xorg session: xrandr --verbose > xrandr.txt and attach the resulting output here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2089709 Title: Ubuntu 24.04 (X11) sometimes logs in to a black screen with only an X cursor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2089709/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
