It happened again today with all third party extensions deleted. Next I'll try additionally with all Ubuntu extensions disabled.
One thing I noticed is that it seems to happen if I boot without being plugged into an external monitor, possibly if I had previously booted while being connected to an external monitor. I also noticed that restarting gdm3 would not work sometimes. Instead I've been running this command, which not only seems to work, doesn't require me to log in again: killall -HUP gnome-shell I'm attaching xrandr just for the laptop itself without being plugged into any external monitors. I had the issue just this morning and ran the xrandr command after killing gnome-shell. ** Attachment added: "xrandr-20250214.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2089709/+attachment/5857559/+files/xrandr-20250214.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2089709 Title: Ubuntu 24.04 (X11) sometimes logs in to a black screen with only an X cursor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2089709/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
