I followed its recommendations to run journalctl -xb and look for mount errors. I only saw the snap errors and all the entries in /etc/fstab show up in df output. I'm attaching a more recent output of journalctl -xb. I've cleaned up a few irrelevant file permission errors. Concerning are dbus startup errors for the org.freedesktop.systemd1 dbus service around line 5730, which also shows up in the manual gnome-session startup above, as well as with gnome notifications errors in the journal output. Not sure how to get more details on why it's failing though.
