OK, so I kind of messed up in that I did at some point get things working again, but didn't realize it because while I was experimenting and testing/trying to figure things out, I run a dual monitor setup (unequal sizes) and wound up swapping the monitor cable outputs so that when things started working again, the GUI login prompt was on a different monitor (shared with another system) which was selected to a different video input source. This swap was because the POST and text boot sequence was showing on the wrong monitor on startup, and (once working) the GUI login prompt is on the other monitor, and it still shows on that monitor despite selecting which monitor should be primary in desktop settings once logged in.
Honestly that's a real problem that should be fixed: the primary monitor which is being used for the text boot sequence is the one that should be displaying the GUI login prompt, not whatever criteria (largest screen resolution?) is currently being used. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2090805 Title: gdm blank screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/2090805/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
