I'm not sure I follow you when you say that your password doesn't help?
Do you mean that it tells you that your password is incorrect? This is
the same password that you use to login with, so if you're logged in, it
must be the correct password.
The only other possibility is that when the operating system was set up,
your account was configured without administrative priveleges. This
means that even when you put your password in it won't let you do
administrative functions. Please confirm this with whoever installed the
operating system for you, and have them add in administrative privileges
for you.
