It's been a ~three hours since my last comment (#29) and the thumb-drive no longer boots on - hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)
I booted it with *live* to test for http://launchpad.net/bugs/1899719 where I quote myself on saying ot occurred on 3 boxes; the purpose of this boot was to see if this box was one of them... but it won't boot??
