laptop-mode is disabled by default in Ubuntu. AFAIK laptop-mode is only used when on battery (if it is enabled by the user). IMHO we need a solution which can be enabled by default for all laptop users at all times (when they are working on battery and when they are working on AC). IMHO Ubuntu needs to prevent too much unparking of the harddisk head and therefor Ubuntu needs to prevent too much unnecessary disk access. How do you suggest Ubuntu should do that ?
