For those of you that really want Trusty fixed, please be aware, that
the preferred way to resolve this kind of issue is to upgrade the EFI
Firmware on your machine.

Also I just checked the source code for initramfs-tools, Yingying Zhao 
(yingying-zhao) was wrong in

as the trusty version definitively does not have the early microcode patch.

Additionally the version where that is committed has changed significantly from 
Trusty such that backporting that doesn't look advisable either.

Xnox has made a correct assessment by not wanting to push this into
Trusty.  Please stop voting for trusty. If you insist on running Trusty
please directly upgrade your EFI.
