Thanks for the video, that helps eliminate a variety of possibilities.

Since you say it works ok with Feisty, presumably one of the changes
between Feisty and Gutsy caused it.

Could you try booting some intermediate versions, such as Tribe 3 or
Tribe 5?

Alternatively, or in addition, could you try downgrading your fglrx
driver?  Use the drivers from ATI's website.  There are also some newer
fglrx versions available.

I'm also curious if the issue is specific to DVI, or if it shows up with
VGA as well, and if anything similar happens when using the -ati driver.
I don't know if you're able to test either of these, but if so it could
be useful data.

Please also attach your xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log files, as well
as the output from lscpi -vvnn in case we need your video card's pci id.
