Which fglrx version specifically did you try? It's good to hear that the new fglrx seems to work perfectly. Unfortunately it's too late in the game for us to get this in for Gutsy, but it's good to know that manually upgrading it solves the problem. We'll make sure to include the newer version in Hardy, so this issue can be closed at that time.
