i915 (VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03)) has the same problem. I have read somewhere that only the older cards are effected <945 but I don't know. I think that resolution and the other fixed i810 bugs are more important then compiz. Since intel is enabled by default compiz shouldn't be enabled after install but if some tries to activate it under Desktop Effects it tells him that the driver has to be changed or changes it itself to i810 like for Nvidia cards. Maybe a link how to fix resolution problems (i915 resolution) or at least a message box which informs about the possible penalities would be great.
