NB 2) Although I used the amd64 deb files, when I checked what was installed, the upstream kernel was marked as '32-bit'. I am not sure if this was just a documentation error or if the kernel was genuinely 32-bit. Everything else seemed to work, so I think it must have been a documentation issue in the upstream deb file.
