Yes, I got the sound working too. I have a fully functioning Dapper - sound and fans controlled (except for video that is a bit jerky) - simply by compiling the 2.6.16-rc5 kernel with the g5_defconfig configuration.
I've posted instructions about how to get a working Dapper here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1447777#post1447777 It'd be good to get feedback on how well this works. Also, rather that using the kernel I've compiled, I'd really like people to try compiling their own kernel and see if we can also get smooth video.
