@fig do you have the latest gnome-shell via ppa? Maybe only if you use the newest gnome-shell and the modal setting it fixes the bug. :)
@Deepak Did you check if the modal setting got updated? Just open gedit, type something and close it. The dialog that pops up has to be moveable without moving gedit else it didn't work. I'm just asking as copy/pasting the line might not have worked. Sorry if you already tested that. About the total crash. Maybe this here helps: "As a workaround when the shell wont restart after a crash, and leaves your windows dead and unfocussed, go to Terminal and File->New profile create a profile called "Restart shell" and create. In the properties choose "Run a custom command instead of my shell" and enter the command "gnome-shell --replace". Now if the shell crashes and you cant get the text focus to a terminal to type this manually, you can right-click on the Desktop and "Open in terminal"; then from the Terminal File menu, select File->Open Tab->Restart Shell." Of course you have to do "create" this before the creash as after you can't type. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/889706 Title: Gnome-shell randomly crashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/889706/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
