I misread the comments in your description and thought that you were
having trouble seeing networks, but I see now that is not the case.
Sorry for the confusion.

The next thing I'd ask you to try is to test the mainline 2.6.38.8
build, as it has a number of fixes that haven't made it to natty yet.
You can download it here:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.38.8-natty/

Download the two files ending in _i386.deb and the one ending in
_all.deb into a new directory, then navigate to that directory in a
terminal and run 'sudo dpkg -i *.deb'.  Let me know whether or not this
helps at all.
