Same story, I have just tested the latest live cd (apparently the release candidate)
Specs: Asus A6J laptop with ATI Mobility X1600, LCD native resolution 1200x800 widescreen. X won't start in normal mode or "safe graphics mode" It says 1024 768 has "bad hsync" in the log... At the bottom : (EE) VESA(0): No matching modes (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. Attached is full xorg log file.
