Maurice, In an effort to close this bug report if it is indeed just a configuration issue, could you boot up off of that live cd and follow this:
1) Setup universe/multiverse 2) Install tvtime 3) tvtime -d /dev/video1 If that works, i'll close up this bug, otherwise i'll mark it as open still and needing further investigation. (It's much better to get this fixed while feisty is still in development if its a problem, getting bugs fixed after the release is much more difficult) You won't lose anything in the process of doing these things in live mode.
