i am obviously going to get nowhere arguing with you. But please note that by starting more services in recovery mode you are increasing the chance that one of the services was the one which causes the system not to boot in the first place. Should services such as Mysql really be started in recovery mode, if not how are going to prevent it once mysql is moved to upstart. What type of dependency can you possible come up that will prevent it if run level is not taken into account.
