If I understand it correctly, the "managed=false" tells NM to ignore the
contents of /etc/network/interfacs ( ie. don't manage them ).  It's used
by the ifupdown system settings plugin used on Ubuntu.

Interfaces in /etc/network/interface are treated are not the same thing
as system connections, which in Ubuntu are stored under the
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections directory as flat files.
