Thanks for the quick responses and posting the requested information.
As I suspected, you both have the Realtek RTL8101/RTL8102E card:
Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast
Ethernet controller [10ec:8136]
The issue you are seeing is actually a duplicate of bug 326891. One of
our Ubuntu kernel devs has committed a few patches and is in the process
of getting them uploaded to intrepid-proposed repository for you to
test. If you could please continue to track this issue at that report
and provide additional testing and feedback when the updated kernel is
available that would be great. Thanks in advance.
