Leann Here they are attached ... good luck with it. I should explain that I am using the Wicd network manager rather than the Ubuntu one. It was initially part of debugging to change the network manager. Wicd is way easier and more powerful than the Gnome version. Works great with Gnome and icewm and xfce4 too.
But I have used both network managers to debug the problem. Now you guys get to find the bug. I usually do firmware ... microcontroller stuff in C. Are there places in the open source world for firmware people? I heard there was a Ubuntu firmware oriented distribution. But have not found it. I specialize in electronic product design.
