DominikBodi: I don't think generalizing this bug to usplash is correct, that seems to be a variation of the bug. I am experiencing the same symptoms as the initial report regardless of if I am using splash or not. I removed splash from the kernel line which gave me the standard 80x24 terminal, which I assume disables the splash fully.
Just to be clear, when X starts the screen goes black and I can't reach any console or kill X by ctrl-alt-backspace with the "ati" driver. Using the "fglrx" and "vesa" drivers work correctly. Athlon-XP 2Ghz ATI Radeon 9250 (AGP) I am attaching a Xorg.log from a failed session. ** Attachment added: "Xorg log from failed session" http://librarian.launchpad.net/4947636/Xorg.0.log -- [edgy][regression][ati] usplash freezes system when starting X https://launchpad.net/bugs/67487 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
