I like how that suggests the presence of a parachute without actually showing it. Clever. The style is a bit unusual. Most icons in Ubuntu are drawn as objects with hyper-realistic shading and outlines, and no backdrop of their own. Even Ubuntu One, which is a solid flat logo in print and on the Web, has subtle lighting and shadows when drawn as an icon. So an icon like yours, with flat and nearly-flat shapes and a circular backdrop, would be a bit incongruous.
