*The COEUS project: how can the application of predictive analytics to
digitalised patient data revolutionise healthcare?*
COEUS is the Titan of wisdom. Our project will design and build COEUS: a
novel data-mining tool to unlock insights trapped in underutilized health
information. COEUS represents a *revolutionary research application*, which
integrates *predictive analytics *within an *electronic* *patient data
warehouse*. This interdisciplinary collaboration between Medicine and
Information Technology fills a current void in digital medical record
analysis by creating researcher-friendly tools, which can generate new
hypotheses, new knowledge and rapid clinical predictions to directly
benefit patient care and reduce health spending. The project is
multidisciplinary in nature and involves researchers and academics from the
Faculties of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Faculties of IT as well
as the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Project team, Monash Health.
In order to attract the best possible PhD candidate, the EMR project will
also offer employment to the successful applicant as a member of the EMR
team in a role, which is consistent with their level of experience and
expertise for 8 to 15 hours per week throughout the period of candidature.
This role is a tremendous opportunity for the right candidate to
gain industry exposure and develop research collaborations with Cerner
Corporation, a global leader in the supply of health information technology
solutions and services.
*Key aim:* Development of a novel electronic medical record analysis
system, which *integrates* predictive analytics within a large repository
of electronic health data in order to generate actionable insights for
research and healthcare*.*
