Area: Applied security
"Computer security and reliability" is one of the strategic
priorities of the University of Luxembourg. Applied security is
intended to complement the current expertise in computer security in
the Computer Science and Communication Research Unit of the Faculty
of Science, Technology and Communication. We welcome research
expertise in applied security that aims to advance the state of
designing and developing secure systems, with a focus on methods,
tools, languages, or hardware.
Important research areas in applied security include, but are not
limited to, the following: network security, distributed systems
security, hardware security, operating system security, language-
based security, applied cryptography, risk analysis, security
management, security engineering, privacy, anonymity, and the design
of secure systems (such as identity management, biometrics,
electronic voting, health care, digital rights management with fair
use provisions, ubiquitous computing).
The new professor is expected to contribute to undergraduate and
graduate teaching, in particular to the "Master Professionnel en
Management de la Sécurité des Systèmes d'Information" and the "Master
of Science in Information and Computer Sciences". Furthermore, he/she
is expected to build and lead a team of PhD students and post-docs.
The new professor will be offered a highly competitive salary and

Requirements
Candidates have a PhD in computer science and at least five years of
relevant work experience after their PhD. They have a strong affinity
with the indicated research area, an excellent international
scientific reputation, adequate experience in teaching and in
managing research activities, and a past performance in obtaining
externally funded research projects. We welcome industrial experience.
The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. It is
desired that the successful candidate will have a working knowledge
in English, and in at least one of the two following languages:
French, and German. However, it is also possible to obtain
proficiency in a second language after being hired as the University
provides access to language classes. A basic knowledge of French has
to be acquired during the first two years.
