I wish to add that Philippe Smets has played a substantial role in the development and success of the yearly UAI conferences. Dear Colleagues We have been informed that Philippe Smets passed away Monday night November the 14th, at home with his family around. As you probably know he was suffering from a brain tumor. He was a very close colleague of Henri Prade and myself and a very good friend. For many of us in Europe, he was an outstanding researcher on uncertainty theories, where he was a guiding light. He will be deeply missed. Please notify the UAI community about this great loss.
