Distasteful as it is, I get asked about it frequently by corporate
clients.  In the US, they're within their rights to do so, but I've done
a good job at talking them out of it, mostly by laying out out the
_liabilities_ of having that mail lying around, which include having
laywers ask for it.  Most companies today are better served by document
retention policies that focus on not retaining things.
