ok, will not be added. but, not wanting to start but stop a flame, "evil" it is not a correct assumption.especially after the changes to the Privacy act to protect users email. It would be the same as making the Post Office copy every single letter that they delivered.
cheers Shane
at many, if not all, governmental institutions it is required to have all incoming documents filled and archived some time. it is not about the privacy. they ARE NOT private by idea. and it is fair, and such capability is far more protective, protecting the users from false claims.
maybe you never argued that some of our users REALLY sent the email in time, or, on opposite, no one received the required forms someone claiming sending yesterday, or last month.... having not a copy of the emails, you leave the user unprotected in a very offical and already law-saturated situation. did he/she sent/received the documents? not something, but THE documents? in time? if they are lost, WHERE they are lost?
on other hand, having encryption you have privacy. having signature - you have identity. having such patch - you have proof of sending, receiving, NOT sending or NOT receiving the email. maybe, for private emails this is not nessesary and troubles privacy. but if you rely only on some privacy act to protect your privacy, you are wrong, because not only some government may be watching you, but a horde of anonimous bunch of people.
so, don't jump high and angrily, it is NOT evil. yes, the "minority" usually is capable of appying the patch. with all of the risks to have it not tested together with the other components widely. and maybe such minority is on the places where the qmail toaster can (and is used) in more official context. it would be nice to have it patched and disabled by default. but - ok, will not.
thats it. let's finish, will be applied by hand.
