I just realized why these were there in the first place and why the option was 
called "focus-filter". My apologies for my confusion. Basically, if you enable 
focus tracking on your external terminal via escaped control sequences, the 
focus-filter would prevent those from getting to any pane for which it is not 
enabled on. This is why I was seeing errant focus tracking, because I had it 
enabled on iTerm as well. I'll add both of those things back in, but add the 
option as a session option. Does the option name "focus-filter" make sense to 
you guys? It may have just been my mental block that prevented me from 
understanding what it did.
