Yes, it is often the case that "if you object please post" is the construction 
used in the email. The IETF community generally ignores that and posts their 
view.

Part of the reason for the construction is to just confirm consensus from a 
recent meeting. Part of the reason why people post support is that there is 
concern that if there is a flurry of "objection" posts, there is a risk that 
the earlier consensus view might not be remembered.  Shrug.  People. :)
