I clarify. 200 users, 70% MS Windows, 20% Mac OSX, 10% Linux Business data and home drives for all of the above. Data/Shares service is "owned" by the MS Windows and Storage group(s). Currently using mixed-mode NetApp shares: NAS. Considering move to block storage: SAN.
Given that this is *primarily* an MS Windows service, one option being considered is mixed-mode CIFS/NFS shares on a Windows 2k12 server. Question: Is that a good idea? Why or why not?
