The only reason I know to install OMSA is so you can manage the PERC without 
stopping a server and going into BIOS.  I suppose also, the Dell Server Manager 
has knowledge of what the current Firmware & Driver updates are available from 
Dell, so it will easily highlight those sorts of updates being available to you.

Assuming that you're not a 100% dell shop, or someday won't be a 100% dell 
shop, it means you're not going to eliminate the need for a non-dell-centric 
monitoring solution.  So I would say, assume you are going to use some other 
solution, and then install OMSA and Server Manager as a secondary goal, to 
augment the non-dell solution with something that has dell-specific knowledge.  
Complimentary to your primary monitoring solution.
