We are proud to announce the Alpha release of the Cognition Framework, an open source web application framework that uses the Tapestry / Hibernate / Spring application stack.
http://www.thelabllc.com Accompanying it is an Eclipse Plug-in called the Cognition Modeler, a GUI tool for working with Tapestry and the Cognition Framework. http://dev.thelabllc.com/cognition/viewlets/cognition_intro.htm We've been listening closely to the mailing list and have come across many of the same problems in our own development. Here are some of the goals we achieve with the Cognition Framework: 1. Lower the bar of entry for Tapestry. 2. The ability to start quickly with Hibernate and Spring, and not be bogged down with configuration. 3. Have some common practices and standards in terms of application design and approach. 4. Provide GUI tools for Tapestry 4. We look forward to contributing to Spindle and integrating this within the Beta. 5. Provide a framework that is fully extensible. 6. Rapid Application Development for Tapestry and the rest of the OS application stack. So give it a download, try it out, give feedback and get involved. We apologize in advance about the lack of documentation, we are working aggressively on this, as we've been focusing on getting out the Alpha. http://www.thelabllc.com/Products.page Right now we are at EclipseCon. Lots of big vendors have fancy, complicated, expensive tools for JSF. The Tapestry community needs more tools - ones that are simple, affordable, easy to use and allow us to solve problems quickly. We think Cognition Framework is on the right path and look forward to having it grow and serve the needs of the Tapestry community and beyond.
