Or rather, dynamic typing is the "cowboy" style of programming ;).
Look at all the reflective magic that occurs under the covers of
Tapestry. Without tests, it would be a huge house of cards. Howard
is a diligent tester *because* he realizes the value in them. Had he
only relied on the compiler, we'd all be building with servlets where
you get that security blanket of static type checking. Don't even use
JSP's - unless you compile them during your build process (but who
does?).
Anyone who uses Websphere or Eclipse IDE? Anyone with the proper Ant
target?
Actually compile-time checking is the only think I miss about JSPs.
(By the way, compile time checking of Tapestry pages are, IMO, a very
possible thing! By that's for Geoff to answer - or well, an Ant task
would be great ;))
Again, why check for typos with unit tests?
