The very bottom one that says serial number. The other two are quite
descriptive on what they are. IE IMEI number: That is the number of your
phones ID code.
Sim number: Again this is the number that is tied to your Sim card. If you
put this into another phone with Talks on it, you will find it is the same.

yes i have found the o c r software on the copy of jaws i have.
i think the safest bet here is to let my girlfriend help out so there won't
be any errors made.
i have a question about talks though...
i opened up the talks and zooms window and after pressing the menu button i
arrowed til i found the manual registration.
when i go in here there are various serial numbers for the phone etc.
my question is this::
which numbers do i have to take note of before i start the firmware update?
obviously the last thing i would want to do is have the phone updated, lose
talks, then have a phone that is useless to me.

When you bring up the Nokia Software updater; It is a screen that JAWS will
not read on its own. This is when you would need to do an Insert+Spacebar,
then press O for OCR then press W to tell it to try to read the text on the
screen. You will need to make sure that the Nokia Software updater screen is
Maximized first.
Like I said this is something that was included with JAWS 13 and above. So
yes your version does have it as long as you installed the OCR file when you
installed JAWS. Ie the file you should have also downloaded with JAWS was
called FSOmniPage.msi. You can install this on its own if you haven't
already done it. Then you would be able to use this functionality of JAWS to
update your phone.

have not known about the JAWS OCR and me not a JAWS user and I know about
it. Maybe look on the Freedom Scientific website and see what they tell you
about its use. I am on many different e-mail lists, you don't appear to be
on any of them, for instance access-uk and BCAB.

Actually Stephen I do not use JAWS but I know of this new OCR facility
in more recent versions. It is used where there is print on the
screen which JAWS screen reader is not reading out to you, I suppose
it is a graphic image with embeded writing just like a photo or image
pdf file. I think this is the down side of that Nokia updater. If
your girlfriend is computer literate then she may be able to assist
you, like I said it is difficult because of the accessability issues.

You can certainly go ahead and update the firmware, but you may lose
Talks, this is why I did not do this myself as I did not have
someone sighted around to reinstall Talks. It may be an idea to
make a note of the Talks seriel number before the upgrade so you
could then perhaps reinstall Talks if it does get removed in the
upgrade process.
